Field uniform

The standard uniform has historically been ambiguous and officially undefined. Once hired, employees have tended to arrive in suits of their own volition for no discernible reason. That is acceptable for most official duties, but field work can get messy.

Standard issue jumpsuit

For field work there are official Department worksuits. They were made from a shipment of discarded and leftover experimental NASA spaceflight materials, and are as comfortable as they are fireproof.

Manual spread: a black jumpsuit with the seal on the chest and DI12 on the pocket, a black beanie, a flashlight and black running shoes with the mark, beside line drawings of the jumpsuit front and back.

Accessories

  • Beanie. Not required, but a lot of staff wear black beanies as head warmers.
  • Flashlight. Not mandatory or even issued, but a sturdy flashlight is never a bad tool to have on hand.
  • Running shoes. A rare issue of Department-branded shoes from an information-awareness fundraiser in the mid-1990s. Only 100 pairs were made, and they are no longer given to new officers.
